Sexual practices in children are frequent, with 42 to 73 percent of youngsters having engaged in them by the age of 13. Attempting to examine another person’s genitals or breasts, standing too near to other people, and stroking their own genitals are all developmentally normal behaviors that are regularly noticed in youngsters. After the age of five, sexual activities become less prevalent, less frequent, or more concealed. Sexual behavior disorders are described as sexual actions that are developmentally inappropriate or obtrusive and often include coercion or discomfort. When parents come to a doctor’s office with concerns about their child’s sexual conduct, they usually bring up many issues: parent worry, the amount to which the behavior is disruptive at home or at school, the genesis of the behavior, and effective management of the behavior (Kellogg, 2020).
Nurses can and should counsel parents on protective practices such as parent–child communication, parental involvement, and parental monitoring of behavior at every health care visit, beginning before their children become sexually active, to delay sexual debut, decrease sexual activity, and increase condom and hormonal contraceptive use in sexually active adolescents. This can be accomplished by counseling parents while the teenager sees the NP or physician separately (Santa maria, 2017).
Concerns about anonymity among adolescents might prevent them from seeking medical help. They are more likely to seek healthcare, return for healthcare, and discuss sensitive information regarding dangerous behaviors when they believe confidentiality will be honored. (Ford, 2018). Since the child is 17, I would tell the father he would have to talk to his child patient confidentiality I could not give out that information. For the child that is 14 if they have asked me to keep if confidential about them being sexually active, I would have to respect their decision. Unauthorized exposure of another person’s personal information is considered a violation of privacy. Confidentiality violations occur when someone else’s private information is revealed: That they deliberately shared in the spirit of trust and confidence. When there was an implied or explicit pledge not to reveal the information without their consent At 11 years old Florida does not recognize the child to legal consent of healthcare unless in a discrete situation where the child is seeking prenatal care.
“Parental Responsibility Laws” are enacted in nearly every state. These laws hold parents and/or guardians responsible for any injuries or damage their unemancipated children produce because of their purposeful or malicious conduct, and in other circumstances, parental responsibility is imposed for accidents. Property damage (including vandalism), bodily injury, and theft are all things that parents, and guardians may be held liable for. Furthermore, in most jurisdictions, these regulations apply not just to civil actions, but also to criminal acts. Parents and legal guardians are only accountable for specific conduct of minor children under parental responsibility rules. Any individual under the age of majority is referred to as a minor.
