The goal of this Persuasive Speech is to persuade your audience WHY you would be a good candidate for hire. For this speech, you will identify your dream job, research the industry you would like to work in (employment trends, etc.) and finally the characteristics of a successful person in the role of your choosing. You would then match up your own characteristics and experience in your speech to persuade your audience that you would be the perfect candidate for the position.
Your speech outline may look something like:
- Thesis – Today I will persuade you that I would be the perfect Sales Manager (insert your dream job) for Verizon.
- Introduction – It is my goal/dream to become a Sales Manager upon graduation. In my speech today, I would like to give you an overview of the responsibilities of a Sales Manager, the Industry I hope to work in and finally the traits I possess that will make me an excellent candidate for this position.
- Main Point I – Overview of the responsibilities of a Sales Manager
- Main Point II – The ideal Industry you would like to work in (fashion, technology, pharmaceuticals, etc.)
- Main Point III – Your personal characteristics and experiences that make you a great fit for a Sales Manager position.
- Conclusion – As you have learned from my speech, an accomplished Sales Manager in the pharmaceutical industry needs to be …. I feel I have demonstrated to you all that I possess the necessary characteristics/experience to be successful in this role.
